Zaklene izcedek iz rane in ujame bakterije2, da pomaga zaščititi kožo okoli rane ter zmanjša maceracijo.3
Prilagaja se obliki rane z mikrostrukturo, kar zmanjšuje mrtvi prostor, kjer bi se lahko razvijale bakterije.4
Preko geliranja uravnava nivo vlažnosti, da ohrani vlažno okolje za celjenje rane.5
